Liberty Science Center High School is set to open in 2025. The public magnet STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) school will be operated by the Hudson County Schools of Technology. The school will have an enrollment of 400 students from throughout Hudson County.
“This is one of the most important projects that we’re doing in Jersey City,” said Mayor Steven Fulop. “It will be transformational to not only Jersey City, but the entire region and New Jersey as a whole. We couldn’t be more excited to watch this project come to life.”
Students at the school will have access to the companies and scientists at SciTech Scity, a 30-acre campus being developed at the Liberty Science Center. Liberty Science Center will be creating programs for middle school students in the area who aspire to attend the high school.
Jersey City donated 12.5 acres to SciTech Scity and will provide financial assistance for school operating costs. LSC has raised more than $27 million in philanthropic donations for the innovation campus, including $5 million specifically for the public high school.
